UV Lights

U.V lights improve your indoor air quality and help to alleviate:
headaches
sneezing
runny noises
watery eyes
fatigue
sinusitis
An Ultra Violet light is installed on the cold air return duct off of your home furnace and irradiates the return air with powerful ultraviolet rays. Ultraviolet lights have been used for decades in hospitals to disinfect equipment because it kills and/or deactivates bacteria, viruses and mold. UV lights do not leave residues or create any toxins to be released into the home environment. Because the UV light shines on the interior of your cold air duct, residents can not be exposed.
Your furnace circulates air throughout your home. On cool days the circulated air is heated, cool air along with airborne dust particles, mold spores, bacteria and viruses are returned to the furnace through the cold air returns. As the air flows past the UV light it is irradiated. The UV light kills some of the biological contaminants. The air then travels through the filter, where the dust and contaminants are trapped. With each pass through the duct, more contaminants are killed and the air in the home becomes cleaner. For those residents that suffer from allergies or asthma, the lowered levels of airborne contaminants allows their immune systems to recover and often results in reduced usage of inhalers and other medications.
The Ultra violet light bulb should be replaced yearly. It should also be wiped cleaned each time your furnace filter is cleaned or changed.
